Friday Victory & Action Roundup!
Some MAJOR wins this week, upcoming webinars, and actions you can take to make a real difference
Kicking this off with an action of my own: I’m bringing this webinar back for a second time by popular demand: Future Dreaming and your Advocacy Superpower! If you like my approach to advocacy or are feeling paralyzed and unsure where to start and how to actually make a difference, this is the webinar for you!
Wins of the Week
We’ve seen some major wins this week from a court level to a local level. I’m feeling good this week!
The PFLAG V. Trump lawsuit successfully fought for a preliminary injunction against the healthcare executive order. Meaning: The federal government cannot threaten to pull federal funding while waiting for a full trial on this EO. Hospitals that stopped care have largely restored access!
The executive orders defining male and female, as well as those targeting diversity, equity, and inclusion have also been blocked with a preliminary injunction!
The city of Cambridge, MA has become the latest in a line of sanctuary cities for trans and nonbinary people.
Actions to Take
Donate or Attend the 3rd Annual FestivALL benefitting trans youth in Charlotte, North Carolina!! https://www.zeffy.com/ticketing/3rd-annual-festivall
CA residents: Contact your governor! Gavin Newsom started a new podcast, and his first guest was alt-right political commentator Charlie Kirk. They spent the podcast sharing their alignment about transgender athletes, inmates, and more. (more here)
Leave a comment on the federal government’s proposed rules for transgender passport applicants. Though it might not feel like they care, a high volume of comments on ALL THREE proposals will send a strong message that THE PEOPLE ARE WATCHING! Use A4TE’s link to contact them here: https://transequality.org/news/freedom-fly-passport-access-action
Webinar on Monday March 24th: Know Means Know: Helping Men Resist Radicalization
Joyful suggestion: Reach out to your city council and ask if they would consider becoming a sanctuary city for trans folks, or connect with a local LGBTQ+ organization to join existing efforts!
Also: Help me understand what kinds of action/resources you enjoy receiving most or are most likely to actually do in this roundup!
Let me know in the comments if you have other ideas (or if you have ideas for a catchy title. Nothing good has stuck yet!)
That’s all from me for this week! I hope you all have a lovely weekend :) Don’t forget to share this newsletter to help me spread hope and action as far as I can!
Unfortunately, despite the court order CMS sent out a letter alluring that they would still pull funding on gender affirming care hospitals.
This amount of pushback tells me how important transgender, intersex people are for moving forward in this country because the President, Republicans, Christian Nationalists and some Democrats are all about going back to the past. Keep. Moving. Forward. individually is a sovereign power move in my view.
I voted for calls to action against bad bills, but I’d also love love love books and articles!!! Thank you for all your work, one trans guy to another 🫶
